1920s OPERA CLOAK - STUDY
PIECE ONLY
This was once a gorgeous 20s opera cloak in gold silk with a rich
purple silk lining.
- SADLY, the silk to badly shredding and - in view -
unsalvageable. Only shredded remnants remain of the purple silk
lining. Whilst the gold outer fabric is more intact, it too is
shredding and in very poor condition.
- Only the flannelette-like padding fabric remains whole.
- The cloak had slits at the front of the arms - each edged with
gold braid with a tassel attached, and these remain in place.
- The cloak fastens with 3 passementerie buttons and loops. These
buttons are light-weight, possibly wood, which is covered in gold
raffia-like thread, and edged and covered with a gold braid forming
a cartwheel design.
- Alongside the 2 lower buttons are large rosettes in the gold
silk fabric.
- This cloak is really fit only to be disposed of, to put it out
of its misery. However, it may be of interest to a fashion student
or a period pattern maker.
I have listed it as a STUDY PIECE ONLY, with no returns, at a nominal
price with the buyer paying shipping at $10.00.
