Gorgeous 1920s silk velvet opera coat

  • Bust/Waist/Hips = 40"
  • Sleeves = 25½"
  • Shoulder to hem at front = 41"
  • Centre back, neck to hemline = 47"

This is a gorgeous silk velvet opera or evening coat dating from the 1920s - the perfect accompaniment to round off any "flapper" outfit!

There is no label, but the coat is clearly of a high professional standard.  The silk velvet is in a lovely dusky pink colour which offsets the extravagant 5" wide collar which is a very fluffy sheepskin.

There is no fastening, the coat hangs open.  It is shorter at the front, with a "fishtail" hemline which dips longer at centre back.  The sleeves are fitted to below the elbow, where they then flare out into an attractive trumpet shape.

The whole coat is fully lined in an ivory coloured silk satin fabric.  The body and sleeves of the coat is padded, with only the gathered fishtail hemline and the flared sleeve ends unpadded.

Overall in Excellent condition, the only fault being a small tear (about ½") in the lining fabric at the top of each sleeve.

The coat is more than wearable and is worth treasuring as it fast approaches its 100th birthday!
