Fabulous late 1940s ladies skirt suit carrying the label "A Gerald Fisher Model" and a size 12 tag. The suit is in what I believe to be a wool blend in a mid-grey colour with flecks of red and white throughout.
- Jacket
The jacket : is fully lined in a rich burgundy crepe fabric. It fastens centre front with 4 buttons, and each sleeve has a non-functional matching set of 3 buttons at the cuff edge. The jacket is very fitted to the waist, as per the New Look design of the time. There are two slash pockets concealed at either side of centre front, below which the decorative fold ends with a tab secured by a matching button. The highlight of the jacket has to be the light brown astrakhan collar.
The skirt : is unlined and with no waistband. It fastens at the left side with a 7½" metal zipper. The skirt is a fitted pencil skirt and has a 12" long kick-pleat fold at the centre back.
The suit is so typical of the tailored look of the period, with various New Look elements included in the design. It is in Excellent condition.
