A fabulous dress from the re-known Japanese designer Hanae Mori, a designer favoured by the Japanese Royal family and a label becoming highly collectable. The size tag is for S - Small.

This 1980s dress is in a very soft black velvet, with a shaped overskirt in pink satin.

The dress is fully lined and fastens at centre back with a long invisible zipper. The sleeves are very full puffed sleeves, 17" in length, gathered onto a 1" wide cuff which fastens with a single button. There are large shoulder pads, and the back hem of the velvet dress has a 5" slit for ease of walking.

The dress has a dropped waistline, which sits comfortably on the hips. Gathered onto this waist seam is a 20" deep bright pink satin over skirt which is lined with a stiff organdza-like fabric to give shape and fullness. The pink overskirt is shaped at the centre-left, giving the tulip skirt appearance.

At the left hip is a large black velvet bow on which sits a large pink rosette.

The dress is in Excellent condition, with no faults or flaws. It has a timeless quality to it, extremely wearable even now - and certainly a worthwhile investment for the collector due to the desirability of the label.
