This is a fabulous 1950s cocktail dress bearing the highly collectable label "Suzy Perette, New York".  The style is like a shift with the skirt ballooned out from the waist, over the hips to just above the knee.  (My images sadly do not do it justice!)

The dress fastens centre back with an 18" metal zipper.  The fabric is a very soft ribbed fabric, similar to faille, in very rich blues, purple and lilac colours in an abstract floral design.  The dress is full lined.

The skirt is fully gathered to the waist seam to give fullness for the mushroom/balloon effect.  This puffs out to just over the knee where it joins the 8" deep frill which forms the bottom of the skirt to hem. 

The dress is in Excellent condition with no faults or flaws.
